SAMC 2011 – Day 3(Part 2):

The second half of the morning sessions kicked off with an interactive ”Remix and Production” session hosted by Franck Roger.

This session,very similar to the one Culoe and Zakes took us through on Day 2, covered remixing techniques using Logic Pro and BPM Motu amongst other tools.At the end of the session,vocalists from the crowd were asked to add some vocals to the finished remix.Good fun indeed.

Parallel to this session was the “DJ 101″ session hosted by DJ Fresca from Soul Candi.One of the many techniques he demostrated was how to add a “Live” element to your DJ set,this makes it unique and interesting,check out the video:

We also managed to have a brief chat with DJ. Fresh – a member of the DJU(The founding fathers of the SAMC).During our chat,we spoke about the motivation behind starting the annual conference,whether it has had the intended impact and where the scene is headed in his view.Take a look at the video recording:

The last session for the morning was  on Publishing and Music Rights by SAMRO followed by a talk by the guys from NYDA on Brand Development and Finance right after lunch.

The last talk for the day was hosted by Amu,DJ Tira,Mahoota and Ralf Gum.The topic of discussion was the establishment and running of your own Independent Record Label.Each of the panelists shared their experiences/insights and later took questions from the attendees.
